The Swallow Hill Music School became pivotal for Chadzilla and the Denver music community in 2007 when he formed the House of Rock, a program that provides learning and performing opportunities for teens and adults. Each 8 week session forms bands that learn music ranging from Led Zeppelin and the Beatles to Green Day and Blondie. The class culminates in a concert at Moe’s BBQ in suburban Denver. Chadzilla stresses reading for students of all levels for accurate goal achievement.  He also utilizes material from Gary Chaffee, Gary Chester and Joe Morello.

“Improvisation is the key to unlocking musical personality” says Chadzilla and students get a heavy dose of creativity each session. Chadzilla has mentored students ranging in age from 4 to 60, teaching everything from marimba, jazz theory, composition, recording engineering, voice, bass, guitar, piano and drum set to hand drumming and classical percussion. Having Monster Island, a full rehearsal/recording studio he has a great teaching aid that assists students in intricate development and improvisational band situations.
